Meeting Paolo Baschetta at the origami convention in The Czech Republic
Meeting Paolo Baschetta

Paolo Baschetta is one of the best modern origami artists in the world.
He graduated in mathematics at the University of Bologna, the city where he was born and studied and taught.
Maybe, due to his scientific background, he prefers modular and geometric origami, which is simple but elegant; nevertheless, he also appreciates figurative and complex origami.
He has created over one hundred original models which have been published in many books and magazines both in Italy and abroad.
He was a member of The Executive Council of Origami Diffusion Centre (C.D.O) during the second half of the 1980s, taking part in all the National Conventions.
He was an invited guest at the main Origami Conventions around the world: USA, Germany, Hungary, Great Britain, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, Israel.
In 2010, he published a book containing the first collection of his models.
In 2016, he chose to give an artistic turn to his works, focussing less on origami as a past-time and more on the colours, the choice of paper, and models that can have an artistic connotation. He published a second book “Arte in Piega”.
In 2020, he published two more books: “Trasparenze” e “Creatività modulare”. For more than forty years, he dedicated himself, with enthusiasm, to origami.
