Brief
UK Holdings team came together for a full day of team-building and activities 🙌.
The Atlas Copco Group operates a decentralised business model, meaning that they distribute decision-making authority throughout their businesses, rather than dictate from the top down. However, each region has a Holdings team whose role is to represent the Group locally and support all of the businesses in our region. The team doesn’t often get the chance to all be in one place, so yesterday was extra special for us!
And it's not all about work - we wanted something fun to end the meeting and we knew Vanessa from a previous workshop.
Results
We were eased into the art of origami by learning how to create the perfect paper plane. However, our competition revealed that the throwing technique is equally important... Once everyone got the hang of folding paper, we were taught how to create beautifully framed origami artwork. We have a feeling that many of them will be displayed at home! 🤩
Going above and beyond
To ease people into origami, most of which haven't done it since school, I ran the paper plane challenge.
We watched the video of the world record being set in 2012, then we made the plane, complete with logo as the livery.
This got people relaxing and chatting in a non-hierarchical environment. Everyone then threw them in the foyer.
I also gave a handmade prize to the winner.

Let's celebrate Halloween with some horror-gami!
The team wanted a lunch & learn for their staff so Crafty Team Building went in to make origami ghosts, bats and claws.
20 people enjoyed a break from work and one colleague commented that she would use the claws to play with her cat!
Well I love it. Protection from scratches right there.
I ran a competition to see who could use the two claws made to pick up an object and put it in a container.
Somewhat tricky - it's all about technique.
The winner received his ghosty headband.

Brief
The global tax team's new leader wanted to bring his global team together to meet each other.
Being new also, he wanted to meet them face-to-face.
They asked Crafty Team Building to suggest four workshops that could open and close the conference in Cambridge.
Results
We proposed two painting workshops, one to create individual art and then the second to create team art, having already learnt the art form.
To close, two challenges, the Columbus cube challenge working again in teams, and then the world record-holding paper plane challenge just for fun and to close the conference.
Going above and beyond
We also ran a competition for the two days and awarded six prizes throughout the conference to all the winners!

Brief
The Commercial Growth team of 75 were having a team offsite.
The organiser Lana wanted a contrasting activity to an inflatables experience where colleagues could be creative over the course of 1.5 hours.
Results
Colleagues could sign up to either activity and it was great to see that over half chose the art experience!
The Modular Origami workshop was chosen as Lana wanted everyone to be able to take home a finished piece of art.
Crafty Team Building chose a suitable star, "Gary's Star", designed by Sok Song, as an entry-level design, to ensure everyone succeeded.
Going above and beyond
I created step-by-step worksheets, in case anyone wanted to take them home to make more.
It worked! Most were gone at the end.

Brief
Ocado Tech wanted an art day to encourage colleagues to bring in their creations.
Alongside that, they were looking for a company to provide three creative workshops throughout the day, whereby colleagues could sign up and learn about an art form.
Solution
Crafy Team Building delivered three contrasting workshops throughout the day to appeal to different needs.
The Zentangle Method was chosen for mindfulness and flow-state practice, modular origami for empowerment and acrylic pouring for empowerment and fun.
Results
After the day, we provided all the step-by-step guides to the origami pieces, so colleagues could make more in their leisure and perfect their skills.
We also ran a competition to win a bottle of Prosecco.
And with our own art display on show, a lovely colleague bought a piece of art created by Vanessa. That just made my day!

The British Red Cross were hosting a company-wide, online wellbeing festival in November 2023 and March 2024 and wanted a morning, mindful session each time for half an hour.
They approached Crafty Team Building as we had done a workshop the previous year for them.
We suggested mindful Zentangle drawing, which is a drawing technique that encourages a flow-state and calm.
It is an accessible art form and no prior skills are required. It is about the process not the end result so colleagues enjoy peace and a dive into drawing.
I provided the email address for any questions that the colleagues may have after the workshops.
Amy wrote to me as she wanted to find out more about the art form. She subsequently joined classes at her local library saying "she had discovered her thing."

Brief
A team at Diageo had a wellbeing team away day at Knebworth House.
Their afternoon session was all about wellbeing and so they wanted a team building activity that was beneficial in some way to do with mindfulness.
Description Title
They approached The Together Collective, a team building company, who suggested The Zentangle®️ Method for mindfulness, delivered by Crafty Team Building.
It is a drawing technique, that through repetition, encourages a flow-state and one where you only focus on the task at hand.
Results
I took along blank squares in case colleagues wanted to learn more patterns in their own time.
The client said that colleagues are still talking about the workshop the next day and they have subsequently made photocopies of the blank squares in their communal area for people to use when taking a break 😊.
I also ran a competition to guess the number of paper coils in a piece of artwork. This inspired one colleague to take up quilling again!
